Talking to Radio Goftogoo’s program “Bedoune KhatKhordegi” Iran’s former Ambassador to Baku Mohsen PakAeen said that the latest move by these two countries can be considered as a tactical step. ”Usually these sort of military drills hold a short term target and are repeated on small intervals. They’re conducted in training camps and are aimed to enhance the bilateral military relations, prompt response to security risks and countering the virtual enemy.”

PakAeen called the latest military drill between Azerbaijan and Turkey a muscle show which aims Armenia because both allies consider Armenia as their common enemy. “Yerevan holds Turkey responsible for the massacre of the Armenians from a long time, while Azerbaijan blames Armenia for the Karabakh issue.”

Iran’s former Ambassador further said that Azerbaijan has made it clear if the talks with Armenia fail, it will result in an armed solution to the differences. “The incidences happening during the last few years prove that Turkey has always been on the Azerbaijan’s side in any conflict. They have been engaged in several joint drills while Ankara has provided Baku with a military arsenal.”
