“Americans want to save the negotiation platform even after the new administration takes the chair in Iran; therefore, they’ve lifted the sanctions imposed upon Iranian assets in the East-Asian region.” Says the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s former spokesperson.

Iran’s senior diplomat and Foreign Ministry’s former spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast had joined our show “Bedoune Khatkhordegi” where the latest move by the US regarding the Sanctions on Iran was being discussed.

Mehmanparast said that during the latest round of talks in Vienna Iran still insists on termination of all sanctions and a return to the pre-exit era by the US. “It must be verified too.”
“On the other hand, the Americans are also interested in remaining in the JCPOA; They want to bargain for more concessions and add some new clauses regarding Tehran’s missile arsenal and regional influence.”

Iran’s senior diplomat pointed out the simultaneity of the Vienna Talks and Iran’s presidential elections and said the current government is after dragging the Americans back to the Nuclear deal, but the question which remains is, is it possible or not?

“What if the next administration is against the current procedure and is after a different approach towards the Americans? In other conditions, the new government favors the negotiations, and both sides reach a settlement to solve the issue.”

Mehmanparast further said that it seems that the Americans are also waiting for the new Iranian President to hold office because they’re aware of the fact that changes will happen in the negotiation team and additionally the Iranian national security council has also entered the decision-making circle.

“The US prefers to keep the platform for the negotiations prepared up for the possible round of talks with the new administration; therefore, they have lifted the sanctions from the frozen Iranian assets in East-Asian countries. It can be considered as a green light to the next President of Iran to keep him in the deal.

Mehmanparast told the Americans to be cautious and not to waste this opportunity. “If the Americans are going to break their President’s promise regarding the return to the Nuclear deal, then they must know that they’ll face a more complicated situation. They understand that Iran won’t continue with its obligations one-sidedly and insists on the termination of all the sanctions.
