Muqtada'i stated that in the new round of nuclear talks, the Westerners have nothing new to say; “They just want the negotiations to become time consuming and then they will ask us to agree with their conditions.
Radio Goftogoo's "Without Scrawl" program had a phone call interview with Dr. Abbas Moqtadaei, Deputy Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, about the inaction and repetitive positions of the P4+1.
Abbas Moqtada'i pointed to the holding of six rounds of talks in Vienna during the former Iranian government and said; “Over those talks, we intended to reach a conclusion as soon as possible, but the reality was that the Westerners didn’t only fulfill their promises to be committed to the Joint Comprehension Plan of Action (JCPOA), but also violated the treaty. The United States formally walked out of the JCPOA, violating all known international regulations. The Europeans also promised to cooperate after the withdrawal of the United States, but in fact they cheated.
He continued; “The Western authorities thought that through imposing pressure on Iran, they could lead the Islamic Republic of Iran to ransom the West. The truth is, from the beginning, they did not intend to give any concessions to Iran. If they wanted to act on the previous agreements, the Islamic Republic of Iran was ready to proceed with the negotiations.”
In this interview with Radio Goftogoo regarding previous talks in Vienna, the deputy chairman of Iran parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee mentioned that the Europeans were only repeating their former words; “Europe, and the West in general, called on Iran to fulfill all its obligations, but in return they did not see any obligations for themselves.”
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has participated in the new round of negotiations with a full team. Our Foreign Minister, Amir Abdullahian, is a professional in his field. The Islamic Consultative Assembly held several meetings with him, and members of the National Security Commission also shared their views,” he added.
Muqtada'i then referred to the parliament's Strategic Action Act, which was passed last year; “According to this Act, the negotiating team could promise that Iran would be committed to fulfill its obligations under the JCPOA if the Western parties were to lift the sanctions thoroughly and the rights of the Iranian people were to be defended.”
The Deputy Chairman of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee stated that in the new round of nuclear talks, the Westerners have nothing new to say; “They just want the negotiations to become time consuming and then they will ask us to agree with their conditions. This is while there’s no issue for the agreement.”
