Radio Goftogoo had a phone call interview with Dr. Morad Enadi, the Iranian international affairs expert regarding the Vienna talks.

Morad Enadi referred to the agreements reached in the sixth round of talks in the 12th government and said; “Considering that with the change of government there was a long gap, those agreements were ignored. Over the seventh and eighth rounds, negotiations will be held on the axis of lifting sanctions and giving guarantees to Iran by the West.”

Regarding the bilateral talks between Bagheri, the Iranian negotiating team’s senior member, and the Russian representative, Ulyanov, he mentioned; “The Russian representative stressed a few hours ago that the talks should focus on lifting the sanctions.”

The Iranian international affairs expert explained that those easier steps of the negotiations, on which there is usually a consensus, have been completed; “the negotiations are now focused on the hard points, and this will naturally take some time. One of the difficult points of the negotiations is the issue of sanctions, and solutions have to be provided to lift the sanctions.”

He also commented on Western demands for Iran's commitments; “European countries and the United States are discussing the demolition of Iran's advanced centrifuges and their decommissioning. They also set a deadline for the talks to be concluded by the end of January, which is in fact a psychological operation by the West.”

“Bilateral talks between Iran’s and other countries representatives are directly aimed at bringing the views of the two sides closer so that we can reach a conclusion,” Enadi added in his interview with Radio Goftogoo.

Enadi then referred to the visit of the South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister to Vienna and said; “This is a rare event and it has not happened before, because South Korea is not a member of the negotiating teams. It seems that something is happening in the field of lifting sanctions, and this could be the reason for the visit of the South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister to Vienna.”

He emphasized on Iran's insistence on lifting all sanctions; “The Americans haven’t yet accepted this issue and stated that even if they are to lift the sanctions, they can lift the parts ordered by the US President, and it’s not possible to lift those set by the US Congress.”

Morad Enadi continued; “Apparently they intend to release part of the Iranian blocked money in South Korea and consider it as a positive signal, while in fact this is merely a tactical move. The Iranian delegation have to be vigilant and not back down from their maximum demand, which is lift of all sanctions and a solid guarantee.”
