Dr. Mehdi Azizi, an expert on West Asian affairs had a phone call interview with the talk show "Scrawl" and discussed the signs of the Bahraini people's revolutionary upheaval.
Confirming that due to the existing challenges and threats, part of the Arab revolutions and the Islamic Awakening did not reach an effective and complementary level, Mehdi Azizi declared; “In spite of the scenarios written for all the region’s revolutions by the west, Bahraini people’s revolution continued, that’s why this revolution is of special significance.”

He added; "Westerners and Arab rulers tried to prevent the Bahraini revolution from happening, but they failed to implement this plan. In another plan, attempts were made to divert the revolution by using internal elements and defaming others, but again they failed.”

Referring to the role of Saudi Arabia, Azizi said: “Since the Al-Khalifa government could in no way show off without the help of the Saudis and the Americans, Saudis were supporting the King of Crisis (Al-Khalifa) and provided them with extensive military assistance. Of course, that’s because Al-Khalifa has no popular support inside the country. Also the British, especially the Queen's family, had strongly supported the Al Khalifa dynasty.”

Azizi emphasized that Al-Khalifa's plan was to fatigue the Bahraini people's revolution and stated; "The prolongation of people's revolution to make them tired was done with the aim of diverting Bahrainis’ attention from the revolution, but this did not happen and the Bahraini people are still fighting in fresh and good spirits."

He pointed to the characteristics of Bahrain’s revolution compared to other Arab revolutions and said; “The majority of Bahraini people and all the parties, are against Al-Khalifa regime. The al-Wefaq Population, which acts as the main indicator of the national and Islamic movement in this country, manages the revolution’s developments in Bahrain, and the existence of a powerful leadership, besides having a roadmap has caused the majority of people to walk in this direction with awareness.”

Regarding the differences between the people of Bahrain and other countries in the region, the expert on West Asian affairs uttered; “The issue of normalizing their country’s relations with the Zionist regime is particularly crucial to the Bahrainis, and in fact their revolution’s targets include internal objectives as well as foreign priorities such as Palestine and confrontation with the Zionist regime.”
