Abolfazl Zohrehvand stated that in a unilateral approach, the United States had hardly pressed the Security Council three times to impose its position the members of the Security Council in order to extend these restrictions, but it faced widespread opposition which was a blow to the U.S. reputation.

Radio Goftgoo's “Scrawl" talk show had a phone call interview with the Iranian veteran diplomat, “Abolfazl Zohrehvand”, over the termination of Iran's arms embargo, and predicting the Western-US response to this issue.

Noting that the experience of JCPOA displayed the legitimacy of Iran, Abolfazl Zohrehvand said; "Despite all the flexibility that Iran showed after JCPOA, the Western countries did not fulfill their obligations. This has well indicated that Iran is committed to the NPT and to cooperating with the IAEA, and in spite of all our distrust towards the West, we have given up on some of our capabilities.”

He asserted; "Iran's experience was very valuable for the International Atomic Energy Agency, but unfortunately they did not use this opportunity and Trump's withdrawal from the JCPOA was a fatal blow to Paragraph 36 of the agreement and the aspirations that the IAEA could fulfill through the JCPOA."

Our country’s veteran diplomat mentioned that accepting restrictions on the trade of conventional weapons was part of the JCPOA; “This has well indicated Iran’s flexibility and while this restriction was accepted in the JCPOA, Iran shouldn’t basically be under such a responsibility. This restriction which was accepted as part of the JCPOA is to be canceled.”

He added; " in a unilateral approach, the United States had hardly pressed the Security Council three times to impose its position on the members of the Security Council in order to extend these restrictions, but it faced widespread opposition which was a blow to the U.S. reputation.”

Emphasizing that the current situation can be used for economic bargaining in the world, Zohrevand noted that this issue shouldn’t be based on outsourcing and ignoring the existing capacities, but we should rather upgrade the existing capacities of our country and then bargain with power, since international relations are defined by power.

He added; “A powerful country stands higher in the international arena and can impose its positions on other countries."
