In an interview with Program “Rooydad” of Radio Goftegoo, Political Analyst Seyed Reza MirTaher said that Germany has many common interests with the Russian Federation specially in the field of Energy and Economy which is binding them with Moscow. He Further said that on the other side France has teamed up with Biden and is trying its best to bring rest of The Europe closer to its ally, The United States and further pressurize the Russians.

MirTaher pointed out the difference between the European countries and told our anchor that there are two wings in the European political arena. The Traditional wing which is interested in a balanced relationship with Moscow while on the other hand it’s The Young wing which demands further pressure against The Russians.

MirTaher added that if the US supporters gain the majority of The European countries, then further cooperation with Biden administration is foreseeable. “In some areas including The Energy sector, Europe is dependent more than 30 percent on The Russians, therefore they cannot afford the cutoff with This country.”

“We must not forget that Russia is the biggest military power after the U.S. and its military arsenal may affect the security of EU’s Eastern borders.”

Mr. MirTaher also stated that despite Macron’s harsh stance, European leaders will try to keep a softer tone towards the Russians.

“Two major changes are clearly visible; First one is the growing gap between The Russians and The Europeans and the second one is a result of the first change; In a response to the West alienating itself with Russia, Moscow will turn towards the East and will pay more attention to its relationship with The Asians.”

MirTaheri added India, China, Saudi Arabia and Turkey are considered as the higher priorities of the Russian Federation’s foreign policy.

“It seems that the changes in West & Russian relationship is a result of a continued process and not a project; Thus, it will have its consequences which will result in further deterioration of relations between Moscow and the West.”

Mir Taher further said that China and Russia are after a new power balance and if India joins in, we will see a reinforcement of power and Iran and Turkey who already have a friction with the West will try to strengthen their connection with Moscow.

“In the foreseeable future Russia will be more keen to deepen its relationship with the East in the fields of Trade, Economy and Politics.”
