Talking to Radio Goftogoo West Asian policy expert Alireza Taqavinia told our Anchor that The Lebanese Central Bank governor had transferred an amount of 40 Billion USD to Swiss Banks and now when this country is facing the Corona crises, they’ve shrugged off the request to return the amount with an excuse of economic sanctions.

“There is just an amount of 3 Billion USD remaining in Lebanon’s central bank while they are facing external debts of more than 128 Billion USDs. Western countries are using this economic difficulty as a tool of pressure against the parties which are in charge of the Lebanese Parliament.”

Taqavinia added that these countries dictate their terms to Hariri and under pretext of a Technocrat government, try to impose their options as ministerial candidates; The Ministers who themselves are against the majority decisions. “So far The Parliament and President Aoun have not surrendered to these pressures.”

The Analyst said that The West has taken the Lebanese Economy as a hostage for their own interests.

“Sectarian Structure of Lebanese politics is The root cause of the problems this country is facing at the moment and unless there isn’t a change in this Sect based system, it will remain so.”

He further said that Lebanon should opt for a One man, One vote political system.

Taqavinia called the Lebanese Political order an Associate and Parliament Based Democracy and added that if the Lebanese intend to solve the root cause of the problems, they must change the political structure and in that case, some of the sects will see their illegal interests, diminish.

He said the only solution to Lebanon’s current stalemate is a President elected directly with public votes.

“Sectarian Crisis of Lebanon is well-known to the politicians of This country but for some parties, interests of their sects precede The interests of The nation.”

He told Radio Goftegoo that the countries which are interfering in Lebanon’s affairs are just pursuing their own interests and not the Lebanese. On the other hand U.S. doesn’t spare any effort in complicating the situation.

“There is a complete standstill and the economic problems have resulted in multifold inflation of the basic needs.”
