Political Expert and Academician Alireza Rahimi who had joined our show “Goftegooye Vijeh" (Special Talk) said that after The Islamic Revolution, maintaining regional security has always been among Iran’s priorities.

He called The Hormuz Strait the most important axis of The Persian Gulf and the role played by it is significant to the energy transit of the region and The world. Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the safeguard of energy transit as of its major concerns.
"For the last forty years, Iran has cooperated with other Persian Gulf countries to counter these challenges."
He pointed out the presence of the non-regional forces in these waters and said: “We’re against this extraterritorial presence of these troops and their interferences and we have some major disagreements on this issue with our southern neighbors.
Mr. Rahimi told The Program that after the British left the region, the US stepped in to take the control of the energy resources and its transit into its own hands.
He rejected this concept that the devaluation of the Oil will result in The US’s disdain towards the region and said: “They do not consider Oil as a strategic capital anymore but transit lines remain significantly important to them.”
"Americans claim that their presence in different parts of the world is to uphold the security. It's false; They just want to keep an eye on the flow of Gas and Oil.”
Mr. Rahimi said Arab countries of the region sign in to the security and military pacts prepared by the Americans and these alliances further paves the way for their interferences.
He recalled the Saudi alliance against the Yemenis as an example where later it became clear that it was created by The Americans. "These alleged coalitions are considered as the main tool of influence of the US in the West Asian region.
Rahimi said that The Americans are here to contain the Islamic Republic with the help of their allies and they believe that Iran is a challenge to their so-called World Order. Thus, Islamic Republic must be countered because it doesn't tolerate The US military and physical presence in West Asia.
"The US assumes that with its military presence and assistance of these microstates it will be able to stop The Islamic Republic; hence, regional confrontations is used to reach the target.”
Rahimi further said that previously Americans followed their economic objectives here but during the previous two decades their goal has changed to political and Strategic targets and confronting Iran is a paradigm of their intentions.
