Nasser Abu Sharif stated that the stability of the Palestinian people kept the Palestine issue alive; “Palestinian people started their combat against Israel from the very beginning.”
Radio Goftogoo’s ‘Nashid-e- Zafar’ program had a phone call interview with Nasser Abu Sharif, representative of Palestine’s Islamic Jihad movement in Iran.
Nasser Abu Sharif mentioned that Palestine was first occupied by the British; “From the beginning, the British occupiers were present and active in Palestine, and the United Nations supported them to establish a regime for the Jews inside Palestine. The British destroyed the land and deprived the Palestinian people of everything.”
Regarding the occupation of Palestine and the displacement of the Palestinian people, he said; “In 1948, two thirds of the Palestinian people were expelled from their land. In 1967, they occupied all Palestine, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.”
The representative of Palestine’s Islamic Jihad movement in Iran stressed that it was the stability of Palestinian people which kept the Palestine issue alive; “Palestinians started their combat against Israel from the very beginning. Today, the number of Palestinians inside the country is 7 million, which outnumbers the population of Jews living there.”.
Regarding the intifadas carried out by Palestinians in their fight against the Zionist regime, he said; “In 1987, the first intifada was born and it lasted for seven years. The second intifada took place in 2000 and lasted for five years, forcing the Zionist regime out of the Gaza Strip.”
Adding that Palestinians have carried out thousands of activities to fight the Zionist regime during this period, Abu Sharif mentioned; “But the problem is that there are times Palestinians are fighting alone against Israel. For example, residents of the West Bank and Gaza Strip cannot enter Baitul Muqaddas. The citizens of Baitul Muqaddas are fighting against Israel alone. But in the equations and the balance of equations, they still have the upper hand and continue to stand up to the Zionists.”
* The Palestinian people can win, but they need the help of the Islamic and the Arab nations.
Abu Sharif stressed that Palestinians can be victorious, but they need the help of the Islamic and the Arab nations; “Palestine should be spiritually, politically and monetarily supported. Unfortunately, the Arab regimes betrayed us, and only Iran stands by the Palestinian people, but the rest of the world stand by Israel; and Israel has usurped the rights of the Palestinian people.”
In his remarks, the representative of Palestine’s Islamic Jihad movement in Iran mentioned that Palestinians have formed a very good resistance in the Gaza Strip; “A population of two million Palestinians are living on the very lands that Israel occupied in 1948. Praise be to God, we have a high resistance against the Zionist regime, and we have the initiative and we had very good achievements against the Zionist regime.”
He then reminded; “Since 14 years ago, the Zionist regime hasn’t dared to enter Lebanon, and this is due to the Lebanese resistance. It cannot enter the Gaza Strip today because the Palestinian people are resisting there. The Israeli regime built a barrier to prevent Palestinians from entering the region. This indicates that we are moving forward and the Israelis are retreating.”
* Was it just Israel, Hezbollah forces could destroy it alone.
Abu Sharif referred to the support the Zionist regime receives from all around the world; “It is not only Israel that is fighting us, there are supporters of Israel, including the United States, which stand behind it. If it was just Israel, Hezbollah forces could destroy it alone. The Resistance movement is now in a very good condition and it will be even better in the future.”
