Radio Goftogoo's “Scrawl” talk show had a phone call interview with Dr. Laleh Eftekhari, a member of Iran's Islamic Parliament, and the issue of “the enemies’ targeting national participation in the elections” was discussed.
Laleh Eftekhari considered the people’s maximum participation in the elections as one of the most important factors of power and independence of countries and said; “All over the world, national cooperation with the system and government is taken as the most important element and an indicator and criterion for independence and national power."
She said that even after 42 years of sabotage to disappoint our people, some trends and foreign countries has no interest in seeing people voting in the elections. "They don’t like to see our people resisting against the sanctions, threats, and the inefficiency of some officials" she noted.
The representative of the Islamic Parliament continued: “On the verge of the elections, the enemies are trying to increase sanctions and negative propaganda against Iran in order to discourage our people and dissuade them from participating in the elections. Of course, the Iranian people have shown that they support the regime in all circumstances.”
She considered the public participation in the elections as one of the indicators in displaying people's support for their political system and added; “There are many occasions in the country that can be mentioned as other determining indicators of people's support for the regime, e.g. 22nd of Bahman and Major General Qasem Soleimani’s funeral. Many countries got into trouble when Covid 19 spread, but in Iran, people came to work and showed their devotion to their country.
Eftekhari described people’s high turnout in next year's presidential election as glorious and said; “Without a doubt, the enemies will be disappointed again and will be defeated. Of course, the enemy will always continue its enmity, but the important thing is how the authorities undo their plans.”
The representative of the Islamic Parliament pointed that the government officials’ performance has a significant role in gaining people's trust in the political system and stated; “The fact is that poor performance of the officials and their negligence towards public and national problems add up to the enemy's propaganda and this issue has a negative effect in people’s participation in the elections. Of course, besides the poor performance of officials, media blackout will also play a role in discouraging people from their country (political system) and participation in the elections.
