Hujjatul- Islam Mousavi said; “Accepting FATF, all financial transactions in all economic areas of our country will be uncovered to the enemies, which will lead to the weakening of national security.”
Radio Goftogoo's "Scrawl" talk show had a phone call interview with Hujjatul-Islam Dr. Seyyed Kazim Mousavi, in which he pointed to the fact that sanctions will be even more intense if we accept and join FATF. “National exigency Council should carefully consider this issue,” emphasized Mousavi.
He stated that Iranians have been accustomed to numerous sanctions since the beginning of the revolution, and have experienced both severe and weak sanctions in various fields and times; “We have repeatedly expressed in our slogans that if the enemy threatens us, we will act in an Ashura-like manner, and we will act in a Ramadhan-like manner against the embargo”.
Noting that the Iranians are indeed resilient and very good people, he said; “If there are problems of livelihood today, many of them are due to lack of proper management which the government should have tried to solve, but unfortunately it didn’t.”
The deputy chairman of Iran’s Parliament economic commission explained the reasons for Iran’s refusal to accept FATF and said; “If we accept FATF, all financial transactions in all economic areas of the country will be uncovered to the enemies, which will weaken national security, foreign policy and Iran’s defense power."
Emphasizing the necessity of rejecting FATF, he uttered; “The enemies are pursuing sinister goals through implementing FATF standards in Iran; they intend to monitor Iran's banking and financial transactions since they currently have no access to this area. If this bill is passed, we’ll financially and monetarily be dominated by the enemies and we’ll see a rupture in our country's economic system, which will result in the increase of sanctions and further consequences, but we will certainly not give this opportunity to the enemy.”
Hujjatul-Islam Kazemi spoke of FATF's efforts to interfere in trade with non-member countries and said; “Accepting FATF, the West will prevent Iran's trade with other countries, and as a result, restrictions and sanctions for the Islamic Republic of Iran will increase.”
