If a country has a powerful diplomatic team while shows weakness on the ground, won’t achieve its targets at all.
This time Dr. Saeid Javanmard had joined our show Goftogooye Siasi (Political Talk) on Radio Goftogoo. He is a political analyst and is affiliated with “The Iranian International Policy Club”.
Saeid Javanmard believes that diplomacy and ground capability are two wings of foreign policy as well as two means of power. “If a country has a powerful diplomatic team while it is weak on the ground, then it won’t be able to achieve its targets.”
“Most of the countries who claim to be a world power or a regional one, use their strong ground capabilities for securing their foreign interests. Politicians and Military persons are deeply connected during the policymaking phase of a country. For example, the Iranian Foreign Minister and General Soleimani cooperated in solving the Daesh issue and just in a matter of 3 months General Soleimani announced the end of ISIS.”
He said that the armed wing always plays an important role in the foreign policy of a country. “Martyr Mostafa Chamran of Iran and American General Collin Powell were among those military persons who were also active in the diplomatic arena. Powell is still considered a collaborative figure between the armed and foreign policy wing of the US.
Saeid Javanmard further said that even the realist school of thought acknowledges an economical power without armed support is nothing but a scarecrow. “A diplomatic power without the support of the ground power is doomed to fail. We must keep in mind that ground capability is not restricted to the armed wing; Scientists working in the fields of nuclear energy and missile technology are also considered as a field power of a country and besides diplomacy, they have turned Iran into a robust state.”
He also said that a collaboration between the ground capabilities and foreign policy intensifies when it is applied in the West Asian region which is considered insecure and extremely turbulent. It plays a key role in upholding the security of the region and upgrading the country’s national sense of power.
Dr. Saeid Javanmard pointed out that self-confidence and believing and confiding in the capabilities of the country’s intellectuals and scientists are among the most important principles of upgrading our power.
He also said that the next administration must change the course of diplomacy as well as the ground capability. It must act differently. If it’s successful, then it will be called superior to its predecessors. The US and the Europeans were not honest in the Nuclear deal; thus we didn’t reach our goals. If we demonstrate our robustness in our diplomatic field and on the ground, then we will prosper on the international level.
