“When Trump came with the policy of maximum pressure on Iran in the United States, they focused their attempts to magnify our country’s problems and attach them to sanctions,” noted Bazrkar.
‘Without Scrawl’ had a phone call interview with Mostafa Bazrkar, an Iranian political expert, broadcasted on Radio Goftogoo, and discussed the US media coverage of the JCPOA talks in Vienna.
Mostafa Bazrkar referred to the document of "Maximum Pressure" published by an American institution and said; “When Trump won the US elections, he instated a package against the Islamic Republic of Iran, but the document was published beforehand.”
He explained that this document was signed a year after the Nuclear Deal while Obama was still in power, and included three countries: Iran, China and Russia. “According to this document, they couldn’t start a full military war against Iran since we have strategic weapons that they don’t know where and how will target American interests.”
This political expert then mentioned that part of this document reads; “Islamic Republic of Iran has strong arms in the region with whom it has formed an alliance and will extend the war to the region and even to other countries in the international system.” In coping with Iran’s power, the Americans are proposing the strategy of imposing pressure which will disrupt Iranians public opinion.
He also announced that the media focused mainly on nuclear negotiations; “At the time of nuclear talks, it was inducted that American ships had entered the region, and that a war might break out at any moment. They constantly spread rumors that the United States would attack if the talks failed.”
Bazrkar stressed that the American media produce content based on the policy of maximum pressure; “When Trump came with the policy of maximum pressure on Iran in the United States, they focused their attempts to magnify our country’s problems and attach them to sanctions, so that people believe that solving problems is dependent upon negotiations.”
“We have to admit that they have been partially successful, and nearly 60 percent of the people have come to the conclusion that the only solution to the country's economic problems is to negotiate with the United States,” he added, “Undoubtedly, this was done by the media, since media alone can widely affect the public opinion.”
