Sheikh Attar said; “The tone of the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency is threatening and persuasive; this is while Iran stands firm by its positions and will not tolerate threatening language.”
In a phone call interview with ‘Rouydad’ program, Alireza Sheikh Attar analyzed the purpose behind the IAEA Director General’s visit to our country and explained; “Apparently the Vienna talks have nothing to do with the IAEA, but this institution is strongly influenced by the US and the West to carry out technical measures in Iran according to their opinion.”
“We cut off the Agency's voluntary access to the nuclear facility by parliamentary resolution, but during Grossi's visit to Tehran, hopes were raised for the Agency to regain access. Eventually, the cameras were supposed to be deployed for three months, but no video is to be delivered to the Agency,” he added.
Sheikh Attar talked about hidden and behind the curtain dimensions of Vienna talks; “Although some friends mention that the agreement is mainly concluded, lots of things remain the same.”
“They say sanctions were lifted on more than 1,000 individuals, yet crucial institutions, including the leadership institution and some key figures and banks remain sanctioned.”
Sheikh Attar continued; “The United States should promise that what is signed in Vienna will not be violated by the US next or current president, but the United States has not given in and it is clear that the agreement will come to an end.”
The Iranian veteran diplomat also pointed out that today, the time of Vosough o-Dowleh is over and Iran is already a regional power; “Dozens of issues may have been resolved, but the remaining two sanctions are the main knot.”
Sheikh Attar remarked; “The signals sent by the United States indicate that they have no intention to lift remaining sanctions.”
The senior political analyst then declared that the JCPOA is rather in America's favor than our country; The JCPOA is tying our hands and controls us in the nuclear field, and that’s what the West is seeking; on the other hand, part of this deal should be approved by the Congress, but the US President can also sign this agreement as an executive order.”
Sheikh Attar stated that the US authorities refuse to commit themselves even to the executive order; “This is an insult to us.”
Grossi's deputy speaks in a threatening and persuasive tone, stressing that sanctions will increase if we don’t allow access. Apparently, Iran’s policy is to stand firm on national positions. On the other hand, such decisions are not made by the government.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Attar mentioned; “The IAEA accepted that if the cameras’ deployment is extended for another month, no videos will be handed over, but the Agency should put aside this tone and its arrogant position.”
