"The Iraqi friends thinking is close to that of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and therefore the US authorities are afraid of the consequences of leaving Iraq," noted an Iranian senior expert on West Asia affairs on Radio Goftogoo.
In an interview with "Rouydad" analytical news magazine, Seyyed Reza Sadr ol-Husseini explained about the latest changes in Iraq; "Regarding the strong support passed in the Iraqi parliament, there was an argument that some military forces might rush to help the United States to enter Iraq under the cover of NATO forces."
"Over the past few years, confrontation with ISIS and American forces led the Iraqis to display their capabilities and run their country well according to regional and international views," he added.
Sadr al-Husseini reminded: "The Americans always tried to postpone their departure. Also, some false hope was raised during transition of power from Trump to Biden, but there has been no changes in the US regional policy over the past five months."
He then spoke about the reaction of the resistance groups to this issue; "There are no real changes in the field, and therefore, after the contradictory messages of the US Central Command, the resistance explicitly declared its position."
Sadr ol-Husseini announced a kind of coercion to expel the Americans by Iraqi resistance groups; "This is indeed a dispute since the US forces didn't come to the region with the intention of leaving it."
In his remarks, the West Asia expert pointed out the US officials concerns about their ambiguous future as they leave the region; "This is while the Iraqi friends thinking is close to that of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and thus the US authorities are worried about the consequences of leaving Iraq."
According to Sadr ol-Husseini, the Americans should be expelled from Iraq, but no time can be set for that. At any rate, there is no doubt that the Resistance Front has made a serious decision to end this conflict.
He stressed: "If the resistance acts comprehensively, it’s quite possible (to expel) Americans, but it tries to avoid giving excuses to the United States, and to achieve this goal with the least human harm. Thus while they are narrowing the circle around the Americans, they provide them with an escape whole."
Sadr ol-Husseini continued; "The Americans added another player to this game, which is the increase of ISIS activity in Iraq, that is, with the withdrawal of a unit from Iraq, ISIS activity will rise, which will be an excuse for the US forces to stay."
