In an interview with Radio Goftogoo, Reza Mirabian called the expansion of Iran-Iraq relations quite significant and said; “The development of Iran-Iraq relations has never stopped after the fall of Saddam, and Iran was trying to expand the existing relations as much as possible.”
Radio Goftgoo's ‘Without Scrawl’ had a phone call interview with Reza Mirabian, an expert on West Asia affairs, about the Iraqi Foreign Minister's recent visit to Iran.
Reza Mirabian stated that Iraq’s government recently invited its neighbors Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as Egypt, the UAE and Qatar to attend a summit; “Iraq invited these countries to discuss regional security issues so that they can achieve a solution for peace and stability in the region.”
He described the Iraqi Foreign Minister's visit to Iran as an invitation for the Iranian President to attend the summit.
In this interview with Radio Goftogoo, the West Asia expert mentioned that the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks to develop political, economic, cultural and security relations with Iraq; “At various occasions, Iran expressed its utmost benevolence and cooperation with Iraq’s nation and government.”
He then pointed to the multilateral summit which is to be held in Iraq; “This summit will be used to strengthen bilateral cooperation as well as regional security cooperation, since this cooperation can be beneficial for all countries in the region.”
Mirabian also declared that some countries in the region are opposed to the expansion of cooperation between Iran and Iraq; “They are worried about the increase of strategic relations between the two countries, but their opposition had no effects on the development of this important issue so far.”
