“The United States is indirectly expressing a desire to return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), but the American officials are trying not to appear eager in returning to the deal so that they can intimidate and press Iran for that,” expressed a political expert in interview with Radio Goftogoo.
In an interview with the analytical news magazine of "Rouydad", Abbas Aslani spoke about the West's claims about the JCPOA; “The United States is responsible for the current situation and the ongoing unrests since this country stepped out of the JCPOA unilaterally.”
He mentioned that Europeans had also failed to fulfill their obligations under the nuclear deal, adding that they were not in a position to blame others for their failure.
Aslani stressed that the US authorities say that the talks cannot continue forever; “They think that if they do not reach an agreement, they’d be able to use other options, and therefore intend to use such statements as a leverage of threat and pressure against our country.”
"The United States intends to blame its negligence on Iran, and to place itself in the position of the complaint and creditor," said the Iranian political expert in his interview with Radio Goftogoo.
Aslani continued; “Such remarks were faced with Iranian authorities’ reaction including that of our Foreign Minister who expressed that if the US officials were to speak threateningly to Iran, they would not succeed.”
He added; “The Americans remarks indicate that losing time isn’t important to them, and therefore this issue comes from a sense of urgency to revive the JCPOA.”
Aslani believes that the United States is indirectly expressing a desire to return to the JCPOA, but the American officials are trying not to appear eager in returning to the deal so that they can intimidate and press Iran for that.
The political analyst also emphasized that the United States left its forces behind in Afghanistan and failed in other parts of the region as well, and that it’s seeing a downward trend.”
Aslani then noted that the US officials have further disagreements with Russia and China; “Besides, they have problems with NATO and their European allies, and the changes before them doesn’t look pleasant.”
In this interview with Radio Goftogoo, he said that these are signs of the US declining hegemony; “When a power sees its levers eroding, it will find the situation difficult to use them in international forums.”
