Advisor to Head of the High Commission of Provinces of Iran has told Radio Goftogoo that today the Islamic Nation is in utmost need of unity and as per the verses of the Holy Quran, Shias and the Sunnis must cling to the rope of solidarity and avoid all sorts of problems which may lead to differences.

Joining our special show for the “Unity Week”, Advisor to Head of the High Commission of Provinces of Iran Dr. Abdorrasheed Darkhani said that our Holy Prophet (PBUH) has stressed upon unity which leads to mercy and has also called to avoid division which leads to torment; therefore, we must always try our best for the integrity between the Shias and Sunnis.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is trying to uphold the true form of equality across the country and calling for the solidarity between all the sects which will clear the path towards togetherness on all levels.”

Darkhani added that our Supreme Leader has also pointed out the common grounds between Shias and Sunnis saying that the Almighty Allah, Kaa’bah, Our Prophet (PBUH), and the Holy Quran are the points which we all believe in; thus, if a voice is raised to create differences between Muslim sects, knowingly or not, he or she has become a tool of our enemies.

He further called the Week of Unity a blessed time. “The High Commission for Province’s affairs consists of representatives of our thirty-one provinces; both the Shias and Sunnis represent different areas while our Sunni brothers have reached the highest ranks of this commission too; which is a clear indication of the efforts made by this Commission towards integrity.”

Iran’s northern city, Gonbad Kawoos’ Imam Juma’a (The Leader of the Friday Prayers) Mahmood Torabi was the other guest of our program who called the founder of Iranian Revolution Imam Khomeini as the Chief Preacher of Mercy and the one who turned the existing difference between the historians on the birth date of our Holy Prophet (PBUH) into a point of unity.

He said that the month of Rabiulawwal reminds us of the event of the migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) [towards Medina] and also the foundation stone was laid for the first Mosques of the Islamic world; Quba and the Mosque of the Prophet.

Torabi further pointed out the importance of the unity and commemoration of this week for the sake of solidarity between Muslims saying that the City of Gonbad-Kawoos is a true example of unity where believers of different sects of Islam live in peace and harmony beside each other; “They pray together, hold joint gatherings and take part in processions shoulder to shoulder.”
