A member of the parliament's National Security Commission declared; “The IAEA director general has once again left his technical position and is taking a political orientation.”
Regarding Grossi's claim that the IAEA hasn’t completely monitored Iran's nuclear program, Abolfazl Amoui said; “The Islamic Republic of Iran is constantly criticizing the fact that the IAEA is shifting its position from a technical institution to a political one and is taking a political stand.”
“We have repeatedly criticized this issue, unfortunately this is one of the obstacles to our cooperation with the Agency,” he added.
He continued; “If the IAEA is in a technical and neutral position and pursues its responsibilities without political orientation, its expectations for cooperation will be better met and we will achieve better results.”
Amouie then mentioned; “According to the Strategic Action Law, Iran has stopped voluntary overseas surveillance for several months, but in an initiative, we accepted cameras’ recording without inspectors' access to the videos.”
He continued; “Then it was decided that the existing cameras will replace their flash memory cards and these videos will not be provided to the Agency until an agreement is reached between Iran and P4 + 1.
We had accepted the surveillance, and the other side was committed to lifting sanctions; but as the other side wasn’t committed to its promises, Iran overcame the restrictions and stopped overseas surveillance.”
Amoui then said; “The Agency asked for the cameras recording to continue automatically, and the law was silent in this regard, and we agreed, so that this would be accepted as a sign of Iran’s goodwill.”
“This measure of ours was reported by the Agency, but today they have a new demand, and the Director General believes that at the Karaj site, where our centrifuges are produced, the cameras have been destroyed due to possible sabotage by the Zionist regime, and they want the cameras to be re-installed. And this is against the obligations accepted by the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He emphasized; “We do not accept such a thing without any reciprocal concessions and now we feel that during his visit to the United States, the IAEA Director General took a political stand.”
“The West expected us to lift the sanctions, and today the IAEA Director General wants Iran to take action without fulfilling the commitments of the other side. This expectation has no legal basis and we feel that the Director General has left the technical position and neutrality, and therefore Iran reacted negatively.”
