Member of Iranian Parliament Abbaszadeh has said that Iran has taken a clear stance before the Vienna talks while the US and the western countries must prove themselves.
In this episode of the “Ba Sokhangooyan” program we conducted a conversation with the member of Iranian Parliament, Mahmoud Abbaszadeh Meshkini and discussed the latest updates stated by the national security and foreign policy commission.
Abbaszadeh told our host that we had been engaged in a round of discussion with the western countries which resulted in a unilateral agreement called “JCPOA”; both sides agreed on a set of commitments while Iran immediately started its compliance.
Abbaszadeh further said that unfortunately the Western side not only didn’t oblige to the plan of action but also imposed multiple new sanctions on Tehran. “One of the signatories also left the agreement one-sidedly; we expected termination of all the sanctions.”
Parliamentarian Abbaszadeh also said that the Americans and the Westerners check is bounced so they owe Iran. “Iran has taken a clear stance on this issue and has stated that before any discussion, the issue of the previous agreement and noncompliance of the other side of the deal must be addressed accordingly.”
He also said that this is the story of a deal where we have sent the product while received a bounced check. “First, we must clear the issue of this bounced check; because they had assured us that the sanctions will be removed. Other topics will be discussed subsequently.”
Abbaszadeh Meshkini reiterated that the best verification for the compliance to the agreement is that the Western signatories fulfill their previous obligations so we may enter the next round of discussions. “Ball is in the court of the 4+1 and future of the talks will also be decided by the attitude and reactions of the West.”
The spokesperson for the National Security Commission also explained the latest situation of the Northern Iraq and the decision made by Turkey for the upstream dam built on the Tigris River saying that the borders can’t stop the clouds or change the course of wind and dust storms; thus, the environmental issue can’t be limited to these borders and the habitual destiny of countries of the region is interconnected.”
Abbaszadeh Meshkini told our host that the people of this region have lived in this environment for centuries and millenniums and owe some rights which must be taken care of, through the legislative system. “We’re not against construction and development process of other countries; therefore, when the destiny of the entire region is interconnected, the topic can’t be reduced to a few political borders.”
He called the water as the primary issue of today’s environmental problems which is considered as a multilateral topic of discussion; “We believe that the issue of hydro resources must be addressed through dialogue and our diplomatic office should consider it in its efforts.”
