Talking to Radio Goftogoo’s program “Bedoune Khatkhordegi”, Iran’s former Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry has said that both negotiation teams are after gaining the most in terms of the interests of their states.

“Iran pursues the removal of all sanctions and normalization of its financial relations with the world which is a rightful demand.”

He also said that the West is facing two complications. “On one side they try to keep their compliance on half while adding new conditions to the talks; in fact, they’re trying to finish Trump’s incomplete job which includes adding the Missile arsenal and Iran’s regional influence topic to the negotiations.

Iran’s former spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry added that the Western governments assume that by stretching the negotiations and demonstrating inflexibility they’ll succeed in pressurizing Iran economically; “, they’re after putting a burden of domestic social and economic pressure on the Iranian negotiating team. Therefore, making the talks lengthy will pressurize the Iranians to surrender before the West; they assume.”

He also said that the Americans are nervous; because Iran has brought its nuclear limitations to a halt and is advancing in different fields of activities; “The US is anxious because it believes that the clock is ticking in Iran’s favor; if Tehran continues with its activities, it will reach the point of no return. So they’re in a phase of dichotomy.”

Ramin Mehmanparast emphasized that both the Iranians and the Americans are pursuing their goal of maximum gain which has increased the friction and has made the negotiations stressful. “We’re going to have a somehow lengthy discussion ahead, which may continue for 6 months or a year.”
