Parliamentarian Abbas Moqtadaei has told Radio Goftogoo that cooperation between the two countries in the field of security and peace-making is a necessity that can’t be undermined.
In our latest episode of “Bedoone Khatkhordegi” program, we discussed Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri’s meeting with Oman’s Deputy Commander for Military Operations. Head of the Iran-Oman friendship group Abbas Moqtadaei had joined us in this discussion through a telephone call.
He pointed out the activities of Iran’s new administration in the field of foreign policy and said that one of the most important policies focused on by the government is defense diplomacy which is also backed by the Parliament.
He said that upholding the peace and security of the region is the responsibility of Iran and other countries of the area which must be addressed in a multi-dimensional way.
He further said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is an advanced country in terms of defensive capabilities which is well received by our neighbors; exclusively because of its indigenous nature.
Abbas Moqtadaei added that, unlike Iran which is self-sufficient, most of our neighbors lack self-dependency and completely rely on foreign-made tools and weapons. “According to this situation, we’re able to guarantee the security of the region.”
Moqtadaei who also leads the Economic Diplomacy team of the National Security Commission of the Parliament further said that with multi-lateral regional cooperation, the area will become free of trans-regional powers. “We’re capable of maintaining our security. Both the Generals upheld these topics, therefore the meeting must be considered in line with the friendly relations of Iran and Oman.”
Abbas Moqtadaei emphasized the fact that Iran is in the direct vicinity of fifteen countries saying: “maybe just two or three countries of the world enjoy such a geographical opportunity. Iran is located between two important seas in the north and the south and its prime position may create an ambiance of business and cooperation which is in favor of every country of the region beside Iran.”
