Senior Diplomat Alireza Sheikhattar has said that both the negotiation sides are playing with extreme care and intelligence to achieve their own goals. “The other side was trying to take hold of the negotiation process to make Iran cease its nuclear program.”

The new government had concluded that it must receive enough guarantees for the future of the Nuclear Deal, especially after Trump decided to pull out of the JCPOA.

Sheikhattar said that instead of the USA who has been sidelined, the Europeans are talking and have also toned down their pitch which has been marked by the Russian and the Chinese envoys.

Iran’s former Ambassador to Germany Sheikhattar also believes that a deal is now in reach and the US must oblige by all its obligations under the JCPOA if they want to return to the deal; “They must ensure that they won’t repeat such moves in the future especially in the Petrochemical and Banking field if a deal is reached.”

He further told our host that Iran has the upper hand on the negotiation table. “After the deal was violated we progressed more than our rivals especially in the area of intellectual brainstorming.” He added.

Today a clash of power is taking place in the Washington and France and Germany are facing other sorts of crises. Britain is also falling apart which is further exposing their bare hands in the talks.

Sheikh Attar pointed out the 70 billion Dollars of Iranian trade during the last nine months saying that in comparison to earlier stages of the violation of the JCPOA, Iran has gained momentum, and if we insist on this procedure we will gain our legal rights.

Making remarks on the verification issue, Iran’s senior diplomat said that the West was calling it a reason for the suspension of the talks but now, they’ve accepted it because of the logical stance of Iran.

He further added that initially, the Obama administration imposed embargoes and sanctions on Iran which was then intensified by Trump. “Thus, Iran’s demand of verification sounds reasonable; because Tehran wants to see whether the other side of the deal creates further obstructions or not.”

Alireza Sheikhattar emphasized that a workgroup must be created for the verification process as well. He said that Iran has also sent many experts of the Banking and Petrochemical fields who’ve presented many reasonable mechanisms to the talks as well. “Russians and the Chinese have also supported Iran’s stance regarding the verification topic.”
