Senior diplomat Alireza Sheikhattar has said that Iran must use all the means of soft war in assistance with the intellectuals, think tanks, and the Iranians residing in other countries.
He added that during the past forty years a new theory has risen in the international relations forum; according to this theory public opinion must be taken into confidence beside any action. It was called soft war.
He said that unfortunately, the US government has used this technique to convince the opinion of the ordinary people against Iran. “During the previous few years, because of the unfair maximum pressure policy of US, this weapon backfired and public opinion turned in favor of Iran which was visible in the letter signed by 3500 of global human rights activists, labor fronts, colored skin groups, and well-known personalities including Noam Chomsky.
Sheikh Attar continued that these people believe that the US Government’s inhumane sanctions are to target the ordinary people and to pressurize them into a retreat. These American groups had clearly stated that the sanctions against Iran which were pursued by the Israeli regime, must be lifted immediately.
Senior Iranian diplomat added that the assassination of Iranian scientists and General Soleimani was also mentioned in this letter signed by scholars, philosophers, doctors, and engineers of the 47 countries of the world. “It has turned into a new front [against the US].”
Iran’s former Ambassador to Germany called such action of significant importance and said that unfortunately, Iran didn’t have any role in the creation of such a public front.
Sheikhattar also said that such a situation has turned into a new form of diplomacy that targets public opinion. “The public opinion decides who must sit on the administrative chair; therefore, with the assistance of the intellectuals, scholars, and Iranians residing in other countries, we must challenge the arrogant powers in on the social media platform.
He said that the media is the best weapon of the soft-war; “Media is no more limited to newspapers and television. Social Media has overlapped them all. Theater, music, and movies are considered as a media tool as well.”
Former Deputy Foreign Minister Alireza Sheikhattar further said that the statesmen, university professors, and students must consider these tools seriously in favor of our global position.
