Radio Goftogoo's "Without Scrawl" program had a phone call interview with Dr. Alireza Sheikh Attar, the Iranian precedent diplomat, about the process of the Vienna talks between Iran and the P4+1 countries.

Alireza Sheikh Attar pointed to the return of the Vienna negotiators to their capitals for consultations and said; “This is a sign of the seriousness of the negotiations since there are many issues that need to be consulted, and in fact contrary to some analysts which believe the return of representatives to their Capitals is a negative sign, I take it as a positive step.”
He referred to the 20-year history of the nuclear talks and mentioned; “This kind of talks has become an excuse for the hegemonic powers to weaken and even destroy Iran, and this was clearly stated by Trump, and the maximum pressure policy was raised in the same direction.”

Over this interview with Radio Goftogoo, the Iranian precedent diplomat stressed that due to Iranians’ resistance, the maximum pressure on our country didn’t work; “The US Secretary of State, as well as think tanks and university professors, have admitted this in various articles and comments.”

He rejected the claim that Iran has come to the negotiating table and said; “The Westerners came to the negotiating table because basically Iran was present in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and it was the United States which disrupted the game. Iran also used this issue well and rationally, because today, Iranian officials’ remarks are globally confirmed, and it’s the United States which is introduced as a violator of the treaty.”

Sheikh Attar emphasized that Iran expect the Westerners to fulfill their commitments; “Iran's logic was so strong that the Americans were forced to return to the JCPOA. Of course, despite the fact that they intend to negotiate internally and among themselves, but they have different propaganda and constantly speak of threats and timing, while in the negotiation process, these issues are not raised.”

The Iranian precedent diplomat spoke of Iran and the Iranian negotiating team’s active role in negotiations, especially in the thirteenth government, and continued; “For the first time in decades of diplomacy, Iran presented a text and this is contrary to the previous practice because in previous negotiations, Westerners submitted the proposed text and Iran commented on it.”
