Commentator of international politics Kiumars Yazdanpanah has said that there is historical negativity against the Russians in the country which should be taken into consideration by the Russians.
Yazdanpanah had joined us to discuss the reinforcement of Iranian- Russian strategic relations. “Maintaining and strengthening political relations with influential countries of the world is an important topic. It’s considered natural in the bilateral connection of the countries and if our political cooperation elevates and moves in the correct direction, it would be an achievement.”
He emphasized that extremist and one-sided views must be avoided because if we’re betrayed like the 2015 Nuclear Deal, then our country will pay dearly. “Such clauses are considered as obsolete in the international political terminology and the other side must be on the same platform as us to ensure the result of the cooperation.”
Yazdanpanah also said that the developments happening around Russia and Iran, impact the geopolitical and security condition of both; “We are in the heartland of the globe; Therefore, whoever controls this area, will control the world.”
He called situational awareness a vital issue for both countries. "Many in the world had a one-sided viewpoint towards global developments. However, with the decline of the new world order theory, these countries have concluded that regional and multi-dimensional cooperation is the way out." he said.
Yazdanpanah also pointed out the President’s recent official trip to Moscow and called it an effective way to influence the regional and global situation; especially, considering the geopolitical turmoil in the region which is giving birth to a new development every day.
He also emphasized the historical negative feelings towards the Russians in Iran and said that the other side must change its attitude towards us to some extent to show their firmness in upgrading the relations. “The change of behavior must be visible.”
He also said that Iran is stepped on this path with sincerity; “If the other side also considers the same path, then the negative propaganda and pessimism will be neutralized.”
Yazdanpanah told our host that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the responsible organizations must pave the way for the necessary change in the viewpoint of the Russians which will facilitate the mutual deal between Tehran and Moscow.
