“Primary notes on the agreement’s draft are taken down, but verification and guarantee of talks are professionally continued,” stated an Iranian expert on international affairs in his interview with Radio Goftogoo.
In an interview with "Rouydad" program regarding the break in the eighth round of negotiations, Mohammad Ghaderi said; “All the issues that should have been discussed technically were discussed by experts through formal and public talks, and today it has reached a point where a final decision is required.”
He explained that in the current round, it has been made clear that what kind of actions and responsibilities should be fulfilled by each side; “Delegations will hold necessary consultations with their capitals, and then, according to the coordinator of the negotiations, the time of the next meeting will be determined and the delegations will make a decision when the process is finalized.”
Ghaderi announced that the two issues of lifting sanctions and Iran's nuclear activities were explicitly discussed; “No conclusions were reached yet regarding the verification and guarantee of the United States and three European countries’ responsibilities.”
“There are even hints about the draft of a primary agreement; but verification and guarantee of talks is still under discussion by the experts,” he added.
“At this stage, we need the will and political decision of the West, especially the White House,” he said.
Ghaderi stressed that there were points about the Joint Comprehension Plan of Action (JCPOA) - especially about sanctions - that should be on the main agenda of the new negotiating team and the 13th government; “Fulfilment of the Iranian nation’s interests on the basis of the Islamic Consultative Assembly law is the priority for Iran, and without it, nothing will happen. If the intentions and predictions made for our country are realized, then certainly Iran will not take an official guard.”
He continued; “Unfortunately there were bugs in the JCPOA which led the other side to walk out of the agreement while Iran had to proceed with its obligations.”
“Of course, we could refuse to fulfil our promises, but since we intend to be "committed" in international relations, the mechanism of the final agreement have to be strong enough to be done.”
Ghaderi emphasized; “The Western media’s approach is beyond the JCPOA, and they believe that reviving this agreement should be free of charges for the United States.”
“Despite the fact that the United States stepped out of the JCPOA UN unilaterally and in a completely coercive manner without observing international law, but their new government believes that leaving the JCPOA has been a strategic mistake.”
“And we say that if you truly believe (that it was a mistake), you should compensate the damages imposed on Iran. But recently we have witnessed new sanctions in the face of political pressure and the pursuit of Iran's socio-political collapse.”
