“The failure of the sanctions as a means for imposing pressure is a strategic failure for the United States, and they intend to reach an agreement so that they can introduce the easing of sanctions as a result of their own will,”
Radio Goftogoo had a phone call interview with Massoud Barati, the international affairs expert regarding the Vienna talks.
Massoud Barati stated that usually the media coverage of the negotiations by the United States is not about objective events, but about the goals they pursue in the negotiations; “The Americans spoke about the progress of the nuclear talks and expressed optimism in this regard. And the main question is about the reason for this change of tone and literature.”
“Until recently, the tactic of the American negotiators was to set a deadline for the revival of the nuclear deal, but when they could not establish the deadline as an issue, and given that they don’t want the negotiations to come to a dead end, they have changed their tone and, in fact, they have adjusted their policies,” he said.
“The main issue is that American authorities desperately need the talks not to fail, since if that happens, they will have no tools to pursue their policies,” the international affairs expert said in his interview with Radio Goftogoo.
“These allegations and threats are merely a psychological operation because they have no serious options for sanctions and therefore, if the negotiations fail, there are no alternative tools and consequently the whole process will be even more costly for them which will in turn, affect the credibility of the United States as a superpower,” he said, referring to the B plan by the West, i.e. the United States.
“Over time, the fears of countries and various international players about sanctions have diminished, and this is a strategic cost to the United States,” Barati stated. “This prompted the United States to try to reach an agreement quickly in order to claim that reducing sanctions was due to the will of the United States. This is while it is clear that the United States has serious inability to impose sanctions and cannot keep sanctions at their peak.”
Regarding the temporary agreement, Barati mentioned; “It was said in the media that the Americans presented a proposal for the new round of talks to reach an interim agreement so that Iran would accept its commitments and in return, the United States should reduce some of the sanctions which were not accepted by Iran.”
