“The United States has made moves in recent days, but these do not have a serious impact on the decisions related to the JCPOA. For example, the US government lifted the sanctions of 4 figures who were previously added to the list, while these people are no longer alive.”

He mentioned that such conducts indicate that the United States is not serious about pursuing the revival of the JCPOA; “The JCPOA is outdated in our view and in Europe's, and the United States has just started a political game in the field of diplomacy and has no will to return to the agreement.”

Imani stated that Biden, in a minimalist move, could provide the JCPOA with assurances in the form of a law; “The Americans have explicitly stated that Biden is unable to secure those resolutions related to the JCPOA, and this shows the faltering of the American will.”

The Iranian political expert stressed that the United States could not return to the principle of the JCPOA by suspending such sanctions. Iran has only two demands: the first is that the other side must first lift all sanctions according to the JCPOA, and the second is to ensure that Trump's conduct is not going to be repeated by the extremists.”

“This guarantee is only possible in the form of a law passed by the US Congress, and the US senators, as they tore down the JCPOA, must pass a law that makes this agreement important,” Imani told Radio Goftgoo.

He stressed that Iran's two goals, namely guaranteeing the fulfillment of the JCPOA and its verification, haven’t been achieved so far through negotiations: “Over these meetings, the American representatives had no will to make a decision regarding the JCPOA.”

The international analyst called the lift of some sanctions as a mere exaggeration and explained; “The United States wants to instill in the international community that it is determined to return to the JCPOA; but lifting one or two ineffective sanctions indicate that Americans aren’t actually committed to their international obligations.”

“The Europeans are acting as a mediator,” Imani added. “A great extent of Europe's trade and relations with Iran are tied up and left behind.”

He continued; “Europe is willing that the US officials fulfill their commitments, and they express hope that by using diplomatic rhetoric, they intend to close the gap between Iran and the United States.”
