In this episode of “Bedoone Khat-khordegi” Program, Dr. Mostafa Khoshcheshm had joined us to discuss the change in Iran’s active and resistive international policies.

Khoshcheshm emphasized that last year the Resistive diplomacy phase was activated through the resolution adopted by the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran. “It provided the leverage against the western pressure and forced EU and US into a retreat, significantly. They wanted to release just a billion USD of Iranian frozen assets but now they’ve called for further discussions for removal of the sanctions which is a clear indication of Iran’s upper hand in the talks.” He stated.

Dr. Mostafa Khoshcheshm also pointed out the constant major changes in the statements made by the western governments during the negotiations and said when we discuss the JCPOA, it means we’re talking about its revival or re-activation of this plan of action. “Iran had been the only participant which had been paying the price while receiving nothing from the pact.”Khoshcheshm added.

He also said that Iran had given up some of its rights under the JCPOA and now demands the promised concessions. “The government which had initiated the JCPOA wasn’t able to receive the points and now the new administration is ready to finish the job despite all the complications.” He added.

Khoshcheshm emphasized that Mr. Raeisi’s Administration has adopted the Resistive diplomacy approach which has forced the western side into a retreat saying that the current team of negotiators and the government have resolved multiple weaknesses of the Nuclear Deal without bringing any major change to its structure. “We do not have any intention of changing the JCPOA because it will lead to more obstructions by the western governments. Iran is not after gaining new concessions but wants to guarantee the privileges stated in the deal.” He reiterated.

Dr. Khoshcheshm mentioned the changes brought to the negotiation process through the current government’s Resistive Diplomacy and said that until a few months back EU and US were against the verification process but now they’ve accepted its necessity and its implementation significantly. “Although the confirmation level is not up to demands of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the progress has been remarkable.” He confirmed.

Political commentator and senior journalist Dr. Mostafa Khoshcheshm further said that the West rejected any call of providing guarantees made by the ex-Iranian Government; “while they have accepted the general concept of this demand they want to limit this call to some formalities. Therefore, the Americans are diverting the public opinion towards political guarantees; The intent is to replace actual guarantees with some empty promises given by the current US President or a statement issued by the American Congress. The US House of Representatives will also never fulfill such demand of the American Government. Therefore, this sort of guarantee is worthless.”
