An analyst says constructing an extremely huge embassy on the suburbs of Beirut city is an indication of the increased level of interference by the Americans.
Political Analyst Farzan Shahidi told our host that the news of US’s new embassy in Beirut is nothing new. “It was announced in 2015 and the project was kicked off in 2017.”
He said that the new embassy is being raised up around Jebel area which is located in Beirut suburbs. “The new embassy is huge and is said to be around 200 thousand square meters in size and will be completed by 2025.”
Shahidi raised this speculation that due to the lengthy construction period, this project won’t be used only as a diplomatic institution. “There is a possibility that the Americans will use it for other purposes as well; For example, as a military base.”
He told Radio Goftogoo that most probably it will also be used as an intelligence and espionage center.
Shahidi called Lebonan an important country in the region which is located just beside the Occupied territory of Israel; therefore, this new base will assist the Israel with its security.
He also pointed out the Hezbollah’s strength and said that the Americans want to keep the Lebanese resistance forces under surveillance while new facility will be used to target them.
“Another purpose of construction of such a huge facility is to compete with the Russians.”
“Today Lebanon is facing a political turmoil, while the Americans either want it to remain in such a state or an administration must be chosen which is allied with them.”
Farzan Shahidi said that the construction of the new American Embassy in Beirut is an indication of more interference and multifold espionage in Lebanon’s affairs by the US authorities.
