Foreign players including the US, France, and also the Saudis are constantly interfering in Lebanese affairs
Farzan Shahidi believes that these three countries with the help of their local loyal players are targeting Lebanon and this is the main reason behind the instability in this country.
During a conversation in “Bedoune Khatkhordegi” program, he explained the reasons behind the crisis in the formation of a government in Beirut.
Shahidi pointed out that 10 months have passed since the resignation of the previous administration. He also said that despite the economic disaster and protests by the Lebanese, Saad Hariri has failed to form a new government and the cabinet during the last 8 months.
Farzan Shahidi also said that practically, Lebanon lacks an administration that is capable of settling the economic and social problems and addressing the demands of the nation. “The political vacuum and the economic disaster has resulted in complications and continuation of the protests.”
Farzan Shahidi who’s a well-known political commentator called Lebanon’s political structure a settled democracy where each of the pillars of the establishment is held by one of the sects; A Christian President, a Sunni Muslim Prime-minister and a Shia Muslim Speaker.
“This type of political structure and the people holding the power have been the main source of the complications and have barred the formation of the cabinet. Lebanon has a Parliamentary system and the assembly has to decide the Prime-minister and the President's house must confide in the decision; Usually, it’s a lengthy process while governments have resigned several times and early elections have been held. This is the reason behind the current unbalanced situation of this country.”
During this telephone interview, Shahidi also said that some international parties including the US, France, and Saudi Arabia are also meddling in Lebanon’s Domestic affairs. They want to play a pivotal role through their loyal groups inside this country which is affecting the normalization process adversely.
