An Iranian expert on Afghanistan affairs believes that if the current trend continues and the Taliban lose their hope in military developments, they may be willing to negotiate.
Hossein Farjad Amin, analyzed the US current atmosphere after withdrawing their troops from Afghanistan in "Rouydad" program; "This was predictable since the Afghan forces were not trained to fight, and with the withdrawal of US forces, it took them a while to know themselves and have faith in their abilities."
He referred to the technical instructions of the Afghan military in their fight with the Taliban; "The situation has improved a bit since last week, and the Taliban were halted to some extent as government forces were able to liberate ha
At the same time Farjad Amin emphasized that most of Afghanistan territories were yet under Taliban control, with the exception of the provincial capitals, which are still in the hands of the government.
He also announced that the government handed over 80 percent of Afghanistan's territory to the Taliban and added; "The strategic points that the government is trying to retake include Afghanistan's borders with neighboring countries and the Taliban are collecting customs tariffs in these areas."
According to Farjad Amin, Taliban forces made "official seals" for themselves in these areas and receive taxes and receipts, and those entering the country through the Afghan border have passports stamped by the "Government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan".
He continued; "The Afghan government believes that it has regained the country's common border with Pakistan, but the Taliban denied this claim; on the other hand, moves have been made to retake the customs of Islam Qala, as well as the common border with Turkmenistan.
Farjad Amin noted that if the current trend continues and the Taliban lose their hope in military development, they may be willing to negotiate.
This subcontinent expert also stressed that contrary to the existing propaganda, the Afghan people have no inclination towards the Taliban and do not welcome them in their country.
He explained; "Currently, videos and clips went viral about the Taliban's mistreatment of the people, especially women, which added to the depth of the people's fear."
In his interview with Radio Goftogoo, Farjad Amin stated; "If the Americans had a responsible exit from Afghanistan, we wouldn't have seen such a situation and there would have been no need to sign a treatment with the Taliban."
He also said that part of US policy in Afghanistan is to make people see the previous security in Afghanistan as the result of the presence of US forces there.
