Zohrehvand stated that as the Taliban advance, all existing structures in the political, cultural and social spheres will disintegrate; “Afghanistan occupation means the collapse of all political structures in Afghanistan which were achieved within the last 20 years.”
Radio Goftogoo's "Without Scrawl" program had a phone call interview with to Dr. Abolfazl Zohrehvand, the former Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan, by discussing the latest changes in Afghanistan.
Abolfazl Zohrehvand stated that the Taliban seek to occupy Kabul and then the whole country; “The path taken by the Taliban is the same as the one in the 1970's: They’re trying to re-establish the Islamic Emirate which prepares the ground for Islamic Caliphate.”
“Of course, the Taliban do not dare to utter this at the moment since the European Union and the countries of the region don’t have a positive view on the formation of the Islamic Emirate, which will be equal the collapse of all political structures in Afghanistan achieved within the last 20 years,” he added.
The former Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan noted that as the Taliban advance across this country, all existing structures in the political, cultural and social fields will disintegrate; “The Taliban are currently trying to seize the capital of several main provinces, including Herat and Mazar-e-Sharif. If the Taliban capture the two centers, they will get the key to Kabul.”
He then explain that the Americans hadn’t left the region, but only changed the way they played; “The US authorities changed the way they played in the framework of the roadmap agreed with the Taliban in Doha, Qatar. Today there is a commonality between the United States and Britain on the one hand, the UAE, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on the other, and the Taliban as a dependent and implementing variable.”
In this interview with Radio Goftogoo, Zohravand pointed to the rapid changes in Afghanistan and the conquest of different provinces by the Taliban; “Such changes are due to the desperate position of the Afghan Defense and Military Forces. In fact, the management in Kabul acts in terms of implementing a joint project with the United States.”
The former Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan said that the country now has about 370,000 trained forces, but 20 years ago there was no such troops; “Over 20 million out of 28 million Afghans inside the country support the current political system. Unfortunately, the anarchist, the betrayal and the large amounts of money they use to bribe people created this situation. But on the other hand, we see that Herat province is resisting due to the presence of Ismail Khan.”
