In an interview with Radio Goftogoo, the Iranian veteran diplomat criticized the shallow analysis of some inside our country about the evolution of the Taliban, and reminded that this group was a clear example of ISIS in Afghanistan in the 1970s.

In this interview with "Rouydad" program, Abolfazl Zohrehvand answered a question about the ambiguities in our country regarding the Taliban; “Personally, in terms of experience and knowledge, I believe that no human being succeeds unless he has zero to one thinking; therefore, a wise person is one who chooses between the two.”

“If we think the Taliban are all right, we have lost our geopolitics, and they may suddenly change and show a different face,” he said, based on past experience and results.

Zohravand described the Taliban issue as a matter of national security; “I have been dealing with Afghanistan for years, despite everything. Therefore, it cannot be claimed that the Taliban have suddenly become angels, or on the contrary, they are all evil and hellish.”

He stressed the need to manage issues according to our national security; “Our interests are not based on the other side. Today, the axis of Resistance has become a geopolitics, and therefore Iraq and Syria do not feel that Iran is hegemon.”

"We have common threats and opportunities in the region. We have to look at Afghanistan based on geopolitics and the realm of civilization, and our analysis should be precise," noted Zohrehvand.

He complained that nobody mentions anything about shallow analyzes about the Taliban in our country; “The wise way is to look at the Taliban's past.”

According to Zohrehvand, in the West, when someone commits a crime he is always questioned and a different account is opened against him, even if he repents.

He added; “The Taliban we remember from the 1970s were exactly like ISIS, and what we saw of ISIS in Syria, I closely witnesses in Mazar-e-Sharif and Afghanistan.”

“Even if the Taliban are separated from their political past, we cannot let go of the past and we have to make sure,” said the political analyst said. “Certainty that happens in a process and is not an instantaneous category.”

Zohrehvand called the most important component regarding the Iranian civilization to be the Persian-speaking activities; “Today, Pashtuns and Hazaras are being removed from the scene.”

He continued; “The United States had a plan for Talibanization of Afghanistan, and those who went under the wheel of the American plane as they were to flee the country were not spies or traitors. This means some kind of ethnic cleansing, so there is no trust in Afghanistan.”

Zohrehvand announced that there will be a change in the current situation in Afghanistan within the next 20 days and stated; “The US defeat will happen in Syria, Iraq and Yemen, and therefore the current scenario is a bad and dirty scenario written by the Americans.”
