In an interview with the "Rouydad" program about the developments in Beijing-Washington relationship, Nozar Shafiei, the Iranian political expert, said; “We are gradually witnessing the formation of a competition, and the current events are signs of this competition.”

He continued; “Whatever action one of these two countries takes, there will be another immediate reaction. For example, a major security pact was recently signed between Australia, Britain and the United States, which analysts believed sparked a new Cold War.”

“China is reacting to this now,” he said, “however, the United States have already taken action in Taiwan, and for the first time, part of the US military has been symbolically stationed in Taiwan.”

“The United States took reciprocal measures in support of Taiwan, which means that the rivalry between China and the United States is intensifying day by day, and relations between the two countries are intensifying,” he mentioned in this interview with Radio Goftogoo. “It is going through a crisis. These indicate that the future competition is based on two poles: With the US on one side and China on the other.”

“Clearly, a country that becomes economically strong is basically inclined to develop. Usually, all the powers that have ever existed in the world had first economic power which they gained through aggression or the acquisition of wealth,” he added.

“The Chinese are trying to gain wealth and power peacefully, and that’s why they have defined their foreign policy based on a peaceful development," he said.

This political analyst believes that China is seemingly developing and progressing peacefully, but in the text, it has an aggressive policy. The Chinese have given a peaceful name to this action and are actually pursuing their own interests through the Road and Belt Initiative.

Shafiee then stated; “The Chinese benefit other countries. So the difference is that in the past a hegemonic power was indebted to land development and aggressive policy, but today the hegemonic power pursues this method peacefully; that is, instead of acquiring wealth peacefully, it pursues development through economic and political relations, and that is China's policy.”
