Hosseinzehi has called naming a week as Muslim Unity Week by the founder of the revolution Imam Khomeini a unique step that has failed all the attempts by the enemies of Islam to create differences between the Shias and Sunnis.
Member of the Iranian Parliament Esmaeil Hosseinzehi who was participating in our show “Bedoone Khat-khordegi” told our host that Imam Khomeini named this week as “Unity week” at a time when the world hegemonies led by the US and Israel had decided to create a gulf between the two of the major sects of Islam; the Shias and the Sunnis.
He added that the “Unity Week” has blocked all the attempts of disunion between the Muslims saying from the initial days of the revolution of Iran, an atmosphere of unity was maintained; “There is a difference between both the sects on the date of birth of the Holy Prophet in the month of Rabi-ul-awwal. But the Unity week turned it into a binding point between the Shias and Sunnis.”
MP Hosseinzehi pointed out the Unity conference in Iran as a counsel of Muslim intellectuals where prominent Shia and Sunni scholars gather to discuss the latest situation of the Islamic nations.
He further said that there are many common points between the two sects and called the Almighty, Basics of the religion, and the Prophet (PBUH) as the most important ground and the logical reason for the unity between the Shias and Sunnis.
“We hope that the Unity week will bring the hearts closer to each other; Iran is a great sample of Shia-Sunni union which can be followed by rest of the Muslims of the region too. In many cities across Iran, where the Shias and Sunnis live side by side, such a great sense of brotherhood exists, that differentiating between them has become impossible.”
