Taqavinia said; “One of the main reasons for the decline of American power is their widespread mistakes and lack of understanding of the region’s relations and social context.”
Radio Goftogoo’s "Political Dialogue" program had a phone call interview with Dr. Alireza Taqavinia, an Iranian expert on international affairs, discussing the decline of the United States in the region; from the blows in the Oman Sea to Yemen and Sham countries in West Asia.
Alireza Taqavinia stated that one of the main reasons for the decline of Americans power was their widespread mistakes and lack of understanding of the region's social relations and context; “They thought that if they invaded Afghanistan or Iraq, they could carry out their demands there. They tried to do so through enforcing governments and implementing the so-called "theory of democratic peace" with military pressure in the region.
He continued; “This was a strategic mistake. They invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, and now, more than 20 years after those invasions, we realize how short-sighted they were and what they thought was wrong. Even during the occupation of Iraq, they appointed a military ruler in Iraq and thought that they could deal with the region’s nations with the the 17th and 18th centuries methods. But they failed, and the will of the region’s nations stood against the, leading to their failure in both Afghanistan and Iraq.”
The international affairs expert mentioned the cultural power of the Islamic Republic of Iran as another reason behind the decline of the United States; “This power affected and spread among the nations of the region. Martyr Hussein al-Houthi, the founder of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement, considers Imam Khomeini as a role model for himself. He even came to Iran during the imposed war and was willing to fight for Iran, but Iran did not accept. Al-Houthi then went to Yemen starting his cultural movement, and today he has been able to launch one of the most powerful movements in the world, which has resisted several Western-backed Arab armies.”
He also stressed; “In Iraq, the resistance groups that were formed based on the ideology of the Islamic Revolution were able to defeat the American plans. The same is true in Lebanon. On the other hand, we saw that they started a war in Syria with the support of the United States, but their plans failed.”
In this interview with Radio Goftogoo, Taqavinia noted; “Such problems occur when a superpower isn’t precisely aware of the global relations and how to interact with other countries, and treats others from a position of power and arrogance. In different parts of the world we have seen that the newly established small powers have now become strong powers. The US authorities spent their capabilities and resources on endless wars, so today they cannot get involved on several fronts, and they have to fall short on some fronts. This has now become a major challenge for the Americans. So they’re focused on China as their priority and are downsizing their grasp in the West Asian region.”
“For instance, the Islamic Republic of Iran humiliates them but they don’t dare to confront us, and in the nuclear case we see that Iran is going on further by the Uranium enrichment, both in terms of level and amount, but they couldn’t find a proper solution to deal with it, and they are constantly begging for negotiations.”
