In an interview with "Rouydad" program, Dr. Hassan Beheshtipour, an expert on international and Eurasian affairs, pointed out the beginning of the Russian S-400 missile systems delivery to India and said; “It’s for more than 5 decades and since the Soviet Union time, India has had extensive Security and military relations with Russia.”
He noted that the Indians have also strengthened their relationship with the Americans over the last two decades; “A quadripartite agreement has been established between India, the United States, Australia and Japan, and New Delhi tried to maintain a balance in its relations with Russia and the United States in recent years.”
Beheshtipour called the Americans' protest against India for receiving the S400 defense systems baseless for two reasons; “Primarily, these missile systems are defensive, that is, missiles that have a defensive aspect, and not offensive. Secondly, if the United States is to interfere in India-Russia relations, the balance of power will be upset.”
“The United States simply broke its crucial agreement with Australia and entered into a new deal with this country, then the Americans object to the sale of the S400 systems to India, though those are entirely defensive. And of course it’s only the United States that may do such a thing.”
He believes that the United States cannot do much in the face of Russia's moves in India and the delivery of the S400 systems.
