Rahimpour said; “We have to take many measures in the course of our cooperation with China. We can see positive signs at the moment, but that shouldn’t prevent us from realizing the facts.”
Radio Goftogoo's "Without Scrawl" program had a phone call interview with Ebrahim Rahimpour, Iran’s former deputy foreign minister, about the dimensions of Iran-China 25-year cooperation agreement.
Ebrahim Rahimpour stated that Iran-China agreement has just started and we can’t come to a conclusion about it very quickly; “In the world of politics we can set goals and move forward based on them, but it’s wrong to think that 100% of Iran’s demands or those of the other side will be fulfilled regardless of other factors.”
He assessed the intention of Iran and China in cooperating each other as positive and added; “Regarding Iran’s bad economy, this cooperation is a positive development. Accordingly we have signed initial agreements with China, and it is quite normal that under such circumstances, the U.S. authorities aren’t satisfied with this agreement.”
"Right at the beginning of his presidency, Biden named Russia, China and Iran as the main enemies of the United States,” noted Iran’s former deputy foreign minister, “When the United States explicitly name these three countries as its enemies, naturally they will also be sensitive to their activities and agreements.”
At the same time, Rahimpour emphasized that Iran- China 25-year agreement shouldn’t make our country proud; “Iran should be careful about its actions towards China, and in this economic condition, a valid agreement should be concluded. We should carefully evaluate the next programs that are to be implemented under the cooperation agreement so that we don’t make mistakes.”
Pointing out the long period of this cooperation between Iran and China, Rahimpour mentioned; “We have to take many measures during the coming 25 years, and we can’t celebrate the victory now. We are seeing positive signs at the moment, but that shouldn’t prevent us from realizing the fact.”
He also spoke about agreements and disagreements raised over Iran-China 25-year cooperation agreement; “It’s basically wrong for the proponents to consider this agreement a miracle, and for the opponents to take a hostile approach towards it, and one shouldn’t pay attention to such opinions. Rather, it’s necessary to study this contract carefully and carry it on with patience and foresight.”
