According to Radio Goftogoo, Dr. Jamshid Nafar, Secretary General of the Exporters Confederation of Iran, pointed to the great and fundamental role of exporters in the country's economy in "Economic Dialogue" program and noted; “Since 1397 and with those heavy sanctions against Iran, this role has become even bolder.”

He continued; “Sanctions were an opportunity for us, but due to unprofessional directives in the last three years, and 8 to 10 times increase of the exchange rate, we could not use this opportunity and unfortunately, instead of increasing exports, we witnessed the decrease in exports.”.

Nafar spoke of Iran's 2% share in international trade; “This is while we have 6 to 7% of global resources.”

The Secretary General of the Export Confederation of Iran believes that our exports biggest weakness is the lack of explanation for exports importance and its role in the economy by the government and the people themselves, and therefore the media should explain the export culture and its role in the economy.

Besides, Dr. Mehrdad Siadat Nasab, former Iranian Business Advisor and economic expert, accordingly mentioned; “It can’t be denied that under current circumstances, exporting is an extremely difficult task.”
He pointed to the most important problems of exports in Iran; “The first problem is that the main exports, i.e. about 70% of our country's exports, are related to raw materials that do not have high added value.”

The former trade advisor of Iran continued; “The value of each ton of exported goods is $ 370, while the value of each ton of imported goods is close to $ 1,200.”

Siadat Nasab explained that even 70% of our non-oil exports are related to oil and called this as the second challenge; “At any rate, the third problem is about export concentration; at present, about 70% of the exports is sent to neighboring countries, 90% of which goes to India and China, and we have only a 10% share of trade with another 140 countries. This is while such a dependence can be problematic.”

The former Iranian trade adviser spoke of the strong determination of the 13th government to identify and remove obstacles, and facilitate the export process, adding that the government should also support higher value-added industries to solve problems, and encourage them to contribute to Export statistics increase.

“One of the exporters’ problems is about the business knowledge and their knowledge of international markets, and therefore the private sector needs to increase its knowledge of target export markets in order to have a successful presence,” added Siadat Nasab.
