In a conversation with “Bedoune Khat-Khordegi” Program, Chief of Economic Commission of the Iranian Parliament Dr. Abbas Moqtadaei explained the different dimensions of the deal between Iran and China.

He mentioned previous several discussions with the Europeans which didn’t achieve any significant result and said that the West gave many commitments but just a few of them were fulfilled. “If we had put effort towards our neighbors and other Asian states instead of the Europeans, we would’ve achieved better results in less time.”

He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is in favor of cooperation with all the countries across the world; “Tehran’s international policies must lead to economic interests and goals. This is the reason behind our talks with China.”

Deputy Chief of the Iranian Parliament’s Commission for National Security and International Policy Dr. Abbas Moqtadaei also informed our host that the Chinese have stated that if a serious approach is selected in our bilateral relations, it must include more strategic topics for an extended period too.

“Economically, China is a great country which is about to become an economic superpower. They’ve made mass investments in Asia, Africa, Latin- America, even in Northern America and also in Europe.”

Moqtadaei added that the Chinese have demonstrated their intention for mass investments in Iran. “Iran will introduce its projects and capacities to the Chinese side and they’ll do the investments. If Iran enters this transit line, it will connect China to West Asia as well as Europe; Naturally, in long-term, Iran will benefit from this transit route.”

Dr. Abbas Moqtadaei stated that the Chinese are ready to invest in multiple sectors throughout Iran. “For example mine, tourism, water distribution, sewerage systems, etc.”
