Regarding possible strategies in fighting against Corona, Mardani noted; “The current responsibility of authorities is to move quickly towards vaccination, especially now that new species of Covid-19, such as Indian and African, are reported from different parts of the country.”
Radio Goftogoo’s ‘Morning Dialogue’ had a phone call interview on Corona warning with Dr. Masoud Mardani, the infectious disease specialist and the committee member of National Corona Headquarters.
Massoud Mardani stated that four weeks have passed since the fourth wave of Covid-19 started in Iran; “I have forty years of experience in the field of infectious diseases, and I never experienced anything like this Corona crisis in my life. Our healthcare Colleagues passed terrible days and the number of patients who had to be treated was overwhelmingly high.”
At the same time, he expressed his satisfaction for the reduction of Covid-19 patients and death rate; “Of course, even the death of one single person is a disaster for the medical staff. The epidemic wave of the disease is subsiding and according to the latest news, the number of patients is decreasing in 26 provinces of our country.”
“The provinces of Tehran, Alborz, Markazi, Khorasan and Isfahan call for special attention, and the reduction process of the disease shouldn’t make us repeat the mistakes such as going on trips. Nowruz holidays were indeed a bitter experience,” remarked the committee member of National Corona Headquarters.
“The current responsibility of authorities is to move quickly towards vaccination, especially now that new species of Covid-19, such as Indian and African, are reported from different parts of the country,” he said.
Mardani then pointed out the vaccination and added; “Although the vaccine itself may cause some problems, the least it can do is that we’ll no more die of Covid-19.”
Addressing the officials, he emphasized; “All the officials should make every effort to move seriously towards general vaccination. Of course, a large number of people were infected by Corona and thus developed a level of antibodies in their body, but this amount of antibodies won’t be protective for a long time.”
