Radio Goftogoo’s ‘Rozaneh’ program had a phone call interview with Dr. Ehsan Mostafavi (faculty member of Iran’s Pasteur Institute and director of Iran- Cuba’s 3rd phase vaccine trial) about Iranian Covid-19 vaccines.

On Rozaneh program, Ehsan Mostafavi stated; “Right now, the third phase of Iran-Cuba joint vaccine clinical trial is being conducted.”

“This trial has started on April 26 this year on 24,000 volunteers from different cities of Iran,” he added.

The faculty member of Iran’s Pasteur Institute continued; “The second part of phase three was performed on 25 May in the cities of Isfahan, Zanjan and Hamedan.”

“We hope that by the end of June2021, the second part of phase three’s clinical trial injection of Iran-Cuba vaccine will be completed,” he mentioned.

Ehsan Mostafavi pointed out that people between the age of 18 and 80 have participated in vaccine trial and added; “Currently, the Pasteur Institute is seriously pursuing the vaccine production, and fortunately, good progress has been made in this field.”

He announced; “The first and second phases of Iran-Cuba joint vaccine were carried out in Cuba.”

The director of Iran- Cuba’s 3rd phase vaccine trial added; “Cuba started the 3rd phase clinical trial two weeks earlier than Iran.”

He stressed that the 3rd phase trial is aimed at determining the effectiveness of the vaccine; “So far no results have been announced on the effectiveness of this vaccine in either countries.”

Ehsan Mostafavi went on to explain; “Effectiveness of the vaccine trial’s 3rd phase will be determined after a few weeks of the second dose injection.”

He noted; “Iran-Cuba joint vaccine hasn’t particularly revealed any side effects in the volunteers so far, the side effects were rather superficial.”

In another part of his speech broadcasted on Rozaneh program, the faculty member of Iran’s Pasteur Institute said; “It is recommended that people who are said to be included in the vaccination should get the vaccine.”

“Domestic vaccines will be available soon,” he announced, “We shouldn’t wait for new vaccines to be produced.”
