In an interview with Radio Goftogoo, a member of Iran Scientific Committee against Covid-19 announced that general immunization coverage in Iran is aimed in September.
Dr. Alireza Naji, a member of Scientific Committee against Covid-19, had an interview with Radio Goftogoo "Morning Dialogue" where he spoke of a lack in resources in the Ministry of Health and the inadequate speed of vaccination; “Concerns about the universities entrance examination are due to the fifth wave, while we should know that the next waves are still unpredictable.”
"We need to reassure families that we won’t have more conflicts over Corona," he said.
Naji stated that there is an outbreak of Covid-19 despite vaccination; “As vaccination level rises, we will see much less hospitalization and mortality.”
In his remarks, the head of Shahid Beheshti University Virology Center noted that in countries with good vaccinations such as the United Kingdom, Covid-19 is still spreading; “There may even be a third wave for this country, but due to vaccination, hospitalizations and serious illnesses will be at a low level.”
Naji expressed hope that by the time the schools reopen, many people in the country will be vaccinated as vaccine production is also increasing.
“It has been promised that from September onwards, Pasteur and Barkat companies will increase the production of vaccines,” he added.
Naji then addressed those who are disappointed with the country's ability to vaccinate people at a high level and said; “Over the last two decades, we have vaccinated 30 million people against measles in two weeks.”
“It's important to provide the materials for making the vaccine, but the unserious promises suggest that this issue is regarded a simple task,” he mentioned on Radio Goftogoo.
Naji continued; “Currently, the public vaccination is due for late summer, so that, God willing, production lines will start operating.”
He also announced that general immunization coverage is aimed in September, noting that some companies’ efforts, such as Barkat, may lead to the production of three million doses.”
