In the Fifth Wave of Coronavirus; Delta Variant Increases the Likelihood of Hospitalization

In an interview with Radio Goftogoo, Mehdi Hadi said; “Now and in this condition, we have to avoid hugging and shaking hands in spite of some social etiquettes.”

"Rozaneh" program had a phone call interview with Dr. Mehdi Hadi (faculty member of the Environmental Research Institute of Tehran University Medical Sciences) over observing health protocols and the effect of unnecessary trips on increasing the spread of Coronavirus.

In this interview with Rozaneh program, Mehdi Hadi noted that everyone should help break the Covid-19 chain as much as they can; “The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recently made wearing masks mandatory even for those who received 2 full doses of corona vaccine.”

The faculty member of the Environmental Research Institute of Tehran University Medical Sciences added; “Every individual may experience secondary complications of Covid-19 even after vaccination.”

He also explained about Delta variant and said; “Each person infected with Delta variant can infect an average of five people, while the initial variant of the virus could be transmitted from a maximum of one person to two.”

Mehdi Hadi emphasized that the Delta Variant is highly transmissible; “Based on studies conducted in Canada and Scotland, it was proved that the Delta variant is more pathogenic than other varaiants.”

“Those infected with Delta variant rare more likely to be hospitalized,” he said.

This university professor emphasized that wearing masks is absolutely necessary; “Now and in this condition, we have to avoid hugging and shaking hands in spite of some social etiquettes.”

He added; “Lots of family and social etiquettes led to the hospitalization of many patients in intensive care units.”

Regarding unnecessary trips during the pandemic, Mehdi Hadi explained; “If a city is highly infected, it can turn at least 5 other cities in the country into red cities due to trips and unnecessary travelling.”

“Lots of people infected with the Coronavirus reveal no symptoms,” he said.

The faculty member of the Environmental Research Institute of Tehran University Medical Sciences continued; “The virus that passed a city and reached another cannot be controlled by imposing traffic restrictions.”
