Answering the questions of the Program Sobh o Goftogoo, Salehi said that according to his Biologist colleagues and data received from the hospitals, an increase in the infection of the upper respiratory system cases has been recorded.

He said that by the grace of God it hasn’t resulted in an increase in the in-patients and death but it seems if the current situation continues and the third dose is not received by the people at risk, the condition will change in a week or two.

Salehi said that we’ve experienced these circumstances several times in the past two years. “After a decrease in the peak, whenever we became optimist we were hit hard [by the next wave].

Salehi cautioned that such an alarming situation must be taken seriously. He warned of a significant increase in the number of patients and pledged the authorities to address the issue with extreme caution.

He explained the reason behind the high death rate in European countries and said that the indicators changed when their government decided to remove the limitations suddenly. “At that time our population was also criticizing us for the delay in the removal of the restrictions.”

Salehi further added that we were insisting that Europe is taking a wrong step, but the people didn’t accept it. “Nowadays, the graph indicates that the West made a huge mistake in removing the sanctions completely.”

He emphasized that the removal of the limitations to such extent, and trying to hide behind the Vaccines proved to be wrong and resulted in such a catastrophic situation in Europe. “The other reason of West’s current situation is because they inoculated earlier so they reached the point of drop in the immunity earlier too.”

Mohammad Reza Salehi further added that enough vaccine is available in Iran and the people must receive their dose of booster shots in the next week or two saying: “We must maintain the social distancing from our beloved ones and maintain the protocols [until we’ve cleared this storm].”
