Atefeh Abedini stated; “Controlling the epidemic is not only done through quarantine, but it should be also managed. All over the world, except for one or two points that are fully quarantined, in other countries ...
Atefeh Abedini pointed to the spread of corona disease and the situation in the country and said; “Now all people are worried about this situation because most families are infected with Omicron and one or more family members may be affected by this disease.”
She continued; “In this peak, which is caused by Omicron, people under the age of 20 were also infected with this disease, but fortunately, both the number of hospitalizations and deaths under the age of 20 are still low. Of course, the number of hospitalizations has increased compared to previous peaks in this age group, but it is still not a concern.”
This interventional pulmonologist pointed out the increase of Omicron and noted; “When a peak occurs, as we have seen in recent weeks, the Omicron increases, and the number of people involved as well as the number of the hospitalized population increases. In order not to make this number larger, and to be able to pass this peak very soon, we should all follow the health protocols and not participate in family and friendly gatherings, especially in closed places.”
“Also, we should use a mask outside and wash our hands several times a day, and observe social distancing,” she added.
In this interview with Radio Goftogoo, Abedini referred to the reopening of schools despite the existing epidemic and mentioned; “In Iran, a decision were made to vaccinate people over 9 years old. On the other hand, there are concerns about schools. In the meetings held at the Ministry of Interior, it was decided that if the number of cases was too high, the class would be closed for a few days, and if there were more classes in a school involved than usual, they should be closed temporarily. These instructions will be soon announced.”
At the same time, she emphasized; “The closure of schools is not only based on the decision of school principals, but this decision should be taken by the governors. Schools that are open should also avoid Omicron by keeping physical distance, ventilating closed classrooms, and following protocols.”
The head of the treatment working group of the Corona National Headquarters stressed that the closure of schools and universities will also have lots of consequences; “Especially in areas with high pollution, it is not right to insist on the opening of schools and universities, and this decision should be made very carefully, especially in schools or places which are not supplied with proper ventilation or space.”
“Epidemic control is not just about quarantine, it should also be managed,” she said. “All over the world, except for one or two points that are fully quarantined, other countries do not have full quarantine and try to manage it, which is resulted by vaccination.”
